There are a number of ways to classify games, either by the medium (game type) or by the status of the game.

Game Type

Each game can only have one game type. The types of games are:

  • CCG - card games with a collectible component
  • Card - card games that does not involve a collectible component
  • Playing Card - card games using the standard bicycle deck of cards
  • Board - games where a game board is required
  • Dice - games where dice rolling and arrangement is the major component.
  • Tile - games where the playing pieces consist of thick pieces
  • Miniature - games where a miniture figurine is the main gaming piece
  • RPG - games where role-playing is a necessary component

Game Status

On CCG Workshop, the following terms are used to define games by status:

  • Original - This is a game created by a person or a group of person that is not affliated with a mainstream publisher.
  • Licensed - Permission has been granted by the publisher/copyright owners of the game to adapt the game to CCGW. Some, but not all licensed games require tokens to be played.
  • Legacy - A game formerly published that is no longer being published by the game publisher.
  • Orphaned - This is a game that is currently available for play on CCGW that does not have an active Project Lead overseeing its development.
  • Removed - These are the games that were once adapted for CCGW but have been removed due to various reasons.
  • Hiatus - These are Original games where the game creator(s) have since departed from CCGW and the games have been put on hiatus until the return of the game creator(s).
  • Vacant - These games do not have, nor have ever had, a Project Lead.
  • Assigned - A Project Lead has taken up the responsibility to adapt this game for CCGW.
  • Now Playing - This game is now available to be played on CCGW.
  • Beta or Testing or Beta Testing - This game is now available to be played on CCGW, but is still in testing. It is free to play these games.
  • Closed Testing - This game is being tested by the game creator and is not yet available for play.
  • In Development or Started - This game is being developed. When it is loaded onto CCGW, it goes into Closed Testing.

Some games can have more than one game status. Endeavor, the game created by ShadowJump is both Original and Licensed. Doomtrooper, for example, is a Legacy Licensed CCG game while Dragon Dice is a Vacant Licensed dice game.
