Will cause the gatlingEngine to freeze as soon as a game is selected

Norton Internet Security

Two components of Norton Internet Security impedes the proper function of CCG Workshop's gatlingEngine. These are the firewall and the antispam. Methods to get around these are detailed below.

Firewall

Norton Internet Security automatically blocks port 8080 for the engine. Selecting the alternate port will allow one to log onto gatlingEngine.

Antispam

Norton Internet Security includes an ad blocker that halts some files with ad in the names from being downloaded. This will cause gatlingEngine to malfunction and even crash as some of those files are necessary to the smooth running of gatlingEngine.

To get around the problem, one can disable the Ad blocking section of Norton Internet Security. However this would mean that Ad blocking would be disabled for all other applications.

To keep the Ad blocking section of Norton Internet Security enabled, do the following to enable gEngine to run:

  • Open the Norton Internet Security Panel
  • Click on the Norton AntiSpam menu/panel on the left.
  • Under Status & Settings select Ad Blocking.
